Abstract

The significance of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4-IR) for supply chain management (SCM) in the woven clothing industry is emphasized by this survey study. The implementation of cutting-edge technologies that can improve these aspects, like IoT, RFID, blockchain, big data analysis, cybersecurity, and automation, is examined from the viewpoints of woven clothing manufacturers. This investigation seeks to determine Bangladesh's key technological barriers as well as the primary motivator for the weaving RMG's adoption of cutting-edge technologies. Here, a combination of methods, including fieldwork and data collection, has been performed for thorough analysis. The research outlines the current state of affairs in Bangladesh, including the availability of trained labor, government incentives, IT infrastructure, and the difficulties of incorporating cutting-edge technology into the existing infrastructure such as about 91.3% factories are aware of the 4-IR concept, around 47.8% projects have actively introduced 4-IR, almost 87% responds agreed to improve the real-time visibility tracking system, about 95.6% responders recognize the huge supply chain transparency and traceability, around 82% responders agreed 4-IR can enhance the collaboration with suppliers and about 92% responders can control the quality of SCM by implementing 4-IR in a woven garment factory. Conversely, the shortcomings of traditional supply chain management systems, such as inaccuracy, human error, lack of transparency and traceability, and delays, have been well-documented. The study comes to the conclusion that in order to increase the productivity of the woven garment sectors, technological innovation is most important at certain phases of supply chain management.
